Church Mouse Press produces beautiful, witty and warm greetings cards. Each design is from an original painting or illustration by mother and daughter team Hilary and Fiona Scoble.
Based in Kent, Church Mouse Press prides itself on creating high quality, unique designs for all occasions. From bright beaches to circus acts, magical lands to nursery rhymes, these colourful cards will brighten anyone's day.
Hilary Scoble is renowned as a watercolourist and illustrator. Her exquisite watercolours of the Kent countryside and lively, humorous pen and ink illustrations have made her one of the South East's most popular artists.
Educated at Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, during her thirty year career Hilary has sold over a thousand original paintings. She has illustrated books for Oxford University Press, and her work has been exhibited and sold by the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours at the Mall Gallery. Her paintings have hung in dozens of galleries around the UK and limited edition prints of her work are collected around the world.
Hilary has lectured at various art societies including Folkestone Art Society and Elham Art Group. She has worked as a private art tutor around Kent and has run presentations and workshops in schools exploring storytelling and illustration.
In 2000 Hilary and her husband Richard opened their own gallery: Church Mouse Studio in Hythe, Kent. The gallery was developed to promote local artists and craftspeople. From her vantage point in the gallery Hilary has observed all that the quaint Cinque Port town of Hythe and the surrounding beaches, canal, and countryside has to offer. Inspired by England's beauty and quirkiness in equal measure, Hilary's work responds with fine detail, wit, and warmth.
While studying English at Cambridge University Fiona continued to pursue her passion for art by illustrating for Varsity newspaper and establishing Selwyn Art Society. In 2007 she was Team Artist on a documentary research team for Maximum Exposure Productions. They drove from England to India in a London taxi while Fiona created a sketchbook diary of the adventure.
Throughout her career as a writer and arts project manager Fiona has continued to exhibit and sell her work around the UK. Lively characters and bright colours populate her imaginative compositions of dreamy, surreal situations. Joyful and smart, cute and deliciously random, Fiona's designs are created with the aim of making you feel happy!
